About our church
Our History
Beginning in 1866 as Patton Chapel Church, Hoover First UMC was built on land donated by local sawmill owner Robert Patton, an ordained Deacon in the Methodist Episcopal Church and Patton Chapel's first pastor. The church building was destroyed by two fires, once in 1908 and 1938. The building was rebuilt and has been an anchor in the community.
